Skin Rejuvenation Post-Treatment Aftercare Advice
(Chemical Peels, Microneedling, Polynucleotides & Skin Boosters/Injectables)
Immediate (First 4 Hours)
-
Avoid Touching or Rubbing: Do not touch, rub, or scratch the treated skin. Avoid facials, facial massage, or applying pressure to the area.
-
Go Makeup-Free: Do not apply any makeup to allow the skin barrier to settle and prevent micro-infections or clogging.
-
Avoid Strenuous Exercise & Alcohol: Refrain from heavy physical workouts, high-intensity exercise, or alcohol consumption to minimise inflammation and bruising.
-
Avoid Heat & Pools: Stay away from saunas, steam rooms, hot showers, and swimming pools (chlorine can severely irritate sensitive skin).
-
Maintain Hygiene Standards:
-
Sleep on fresh, clean pillowcases.
-
Sanitise and clean your mobile phone screen before holding it against your face.
-
Use fresh, clean towels—gently pat the skin dry without rubbing.
-
For 7 days post treatment
-
Avoid Exfoliating Actives: Pause all acid-based cosmetic products (AHAs like glycolic or lactic acid; BHAs like salicylic acid), active vitamin C serums, topical retinols, and physical scrubs
For 2 weeks post treatment
-
Avoid Prescription Actives: Do not use prescription topical skin treatments such as topical retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, or acne medication creams.
-
Pause Botulinum Toxin: Refrain from receiving botulinum toxin treatments in the treated area.
-
Avoid Self-Tanning: Do not apply fake tan or bronzing products.
For 4 weeks post treatment
-
Avoid Dermal Fillers: Refrain from having dermal filler injections in the treated areas.
-
Avoid Laser Treatments: Do not undergo energy-based or laser skin therapies.
-
Avoid Extreme Sun Exposure: Stay out of direct, intense sunlight, avoid sunbathing, and strictly do not use tanning beds
What to Expect (Normal Reactions)
It is completely normal to experience mild to moderate temporary reactions as your skin recovers and rejuvenates:
-
Mild Discomfort & Warmth: A slight sunburn-like sensation or warmth in the skin.
-
Swelling & Redness: Temporary erythema (redness) and localized swelling around the treatment area.
-
Flaking & Peeling: Depending on the treatment (especially with chemical peels or microneedling), gentle peeling or flaking may occur. Do not pick or pull at peeling skin.
-
Pinpoint Bruising: Minor localized bruising may appear within a few days, particularly with injectable skin boosters or polynucleotides.
Ongoing skincare regimen (to continue)
To support recovery and enhance your treatment outcomes, maintain the following daily routine:
-
Gentle Cleanser: Wash morning and evening using a mild, non-irritating cleanser.
-
Moisturiser: Apply a bland, barrier-repairing moisturiser regularly to keep the skin hydrated.
-
Tyrosinase Inhibitors: Continue applying any prescribed pigment-suppressing serums if advised by your practitioner to prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).
-
Broad-Spectrum SPF: Apply a high, broad-spectrum sunscreen daily (SPF 30–50+) even on cloudy days, and reapply as needed.
🚨 When to Seek Urgent Medical Attention
While adverse reactions are rare, you should contact the clinic or seek immediate medical advice if you notice any of the following signs:
-
Skin that becomes blistered, broken, or weeping
-
Areas of skin turning pale, white, or dusky grey in colour (which may indicate vascular compromise)
-
Ongoing, severe, or worsening pain and swelling beyond typical discomfort
